Robert McKechnie
I am an editorial and documentary photographer based in Melbourne, Australia.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts in History and Politics in 2007 I headed to the UK to live and work for 5 years, where my passion for photography was first kindled.
Coming home in 2002 to study, I completed a Diploma of Applied Photography at RMIT TAFE in Melbourne.
Since 2006 I have been working for Leader Newspapers in Melbourne, shooting across most suburbs of Melbourne in this time.
In 2008 I headed overseas for an 8 month journey that took me to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sth Africa, Mexico, Cuba, Peru and Bolivia. While in Cambodia and Mexico I was commissioned by Marie Stopes International, a not-for-profit sexual and reproductive health care organization, to document their programs in these countries.
I have published a book of images from my travels online. You can order a copy at blurb.com.
As well as Marie Stopes, I have produced commissioned work for Oxfam Australia and Save the Children Australia.
